Extremadura is not the best known destination in Spain. It is rarely included in regular 7 days-5 cities itineraries. In the ample main squares or the narrow cobblestone streets of its towns you will rarely hear a word not in Spanish (and then with “extremeño” accent)… In sum, it is not a mainstream destination, maybe because- as with many wonderful people- it takes time to know Extremadura.
It takes time to relish a slow meal of the best and true Iberic ham well washed with the delighful wines of the region… Time to relax in the thermal waters of one of its several luxury spa hotels- or maybe even submerge in a long gone civilization with the Roman Thermal Baths of Alange or Montemayor. And once you’ve travelled to the past, why not take the time to enjoy a classic Tragedy as you’ve never watched it before, in the privileged environement of the Roman Theatre in Merida, during its festival?.
Forget the clock whilst you practice golf at one of its courses, watch the birds soaring its sky, or simply enjoy its wonderful natural landscapes… it may well be the best time of your life!
