Day 1
ARRIVAL IN VALENCIA
Private luxury transfer from the Airport or AVE train station to your selected hotel, where your guide will assist you with the check-in while you relax from your journey enjoying a mouth-watering “agua de Valencia”, a local cocktail that includes champagne, freshly squeezed oranges and…your guide will present you with the rest of the recipe, along with a very special welcome gift.
Take the rest of the day to relax in your accommodations or begin to explore the city with a pleasant stroll.
Day 2
THE MEDIEVAL TOWN-ON THE QUEST FOR THE GRAIL
Let us guide you through a most fascinating visit of medieval Valencia…walk the narrow cobblestone streets to the gates of the ancient city Wall, marvel before the undeniable beauty of the 15th century Silk Market, admire the Cathedral that combines Gothic and Baroque styles, and then, within one of its hidden chapels, surrounded by incense and shadows, stand in awe or fall to your knees before the most sacred relic in Christianity: the Holy Grail; your expert Historian guide will explain the ways and events that took the Chalice to Valencia and to its final authentication by Pope Francisco in October 2014.
And after the food for the soul comes the food for the body, the “Mercat Central” central food market of Valencia houses within its magnificent Modernistic building an impressive collection of stalls offering a true symphony of enticing flavors…
After a tasty and well-deserved lunch it will be time to return to the present and discover what Modern Valencia has to offer, beginning with the City of Arts and Sciences, a unique complex devoted to art and culture, designed by the renowned architect Santiago Calatrava, which comprises some of the most stunning works of contemporary architecture in Western Europe: the Hemisfèric (IMAX cinema); the Príncipe Felipe Science Museum, the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía, and the Oceanográfic- the largest aquarium in Europe with over 500 marine species from all over the world.
Our visit will end by the sea, where you will be able to relax from such an intense and exciting day while relishing a glass of champagne.
Day 3
THE ART OF COOKING PAELLA- AND THE ALBUFERA NATURAL LANDSCAPE
After breakfast, get ready to become a Maestro Paellero with a Master Class taught by Rafael Vidal, chef to the former King, His Majesty Juan Carlos I.
He will teach you everything there is to know about this world famous dish, its history, its tradition, and its best kept secrets. During the class, you will be able to taste some traditional appetizers accompanied with beer and wine… but we strongly recommend you to refrain from too many small bites or you will be too full to truly enjoy the superb wood-cooked Paella that you have helped to prepare.
In the afternoon, we will drive you to the Natural Park of the Albufera, an extraordinary lake of salted sea water, home to an endless variety of wild life. Its rarity, its diversity and its truly unique landscape make of this place a true Paradise on Earth.
Sail on a traditional boat surrounded by the songs of a myriad of birds. The sailor, a true fisherman of La Albufera, will present you with “Mistela i coca de llanda” (a typical cake and a sweet local wine) that you can enjoy while your boat glides into a most magical sunset.
Day 4
COSTA BLANCA-SAILOR VILLAGES- NAVIGATING THE MEDITERRANEAN SEA
A hundred per cent Mediterranean day; in the morning, your private luxury vehicle will take you and your guide to the Costa Blanca.
This “white Coastline”, located just one and a half hour drive from Valencia, extends for more than two hundred kilometres. With the eternal sea in front of you, and the imposing Mountains at your back, the true essence of the Mediterranean will reveal itself in all its turquoise depth and intensity, its calmness and its strength. Visit the village of Altea, with its beautiful church, paved streets lined with little white houses facing the sea. Navigate along the coast to enjoy the view of the endless beaches and coves, while you feel the breeze on your face and the unique smell of the salty air in your lungs.
In Denia, your magical morning will turn into a magical afternoon while you succumb to the explosion of taste, texture and flavor that only a culinary wizard like Quique Dacosta could create for his Restaurant, awarded with 3 stars by the Michelin guide.
Enjoy the rest of the afternoon at your leisure before returning to your hotel
Day 5
DEPARTURE
Enjoy a relaxing breakfast at the hotel. Your guide will help you to organize any last minute activity or shopping that you may be interested in before bidding farewell to Valencia.
Have a nice and safe journey back home, and take with you the unforgettable memories of your Mediterranean experience.
